It was neat to have Mrs McDonald come and visit us to talk about her job at Southcare….. She has many things to do to help keep us all healthy! The “bones” were cool and Bailey was a great model for the blood pressure machine.

This week we have been writing about ourselves. We have had to include our likes, special names, talents etc. Here is a piece written by Matthew Picard.

Hi my name is Matthew I have a talent. It is telling  people about colours in my speech. I can say colours backwards.

I have a different name and it is Doodoo!How did I get it? Because I had a great uncle who used to be a rugby player and that was his name

Well Mr Whalley and I have managed to get back into the blog and now I am able to receive your comments….. So come on Room 2, GIVE IT A GO!!  Look out for a post from Group 1 this week, they are going to give you news and new learning from our room.

How’ the spelling homework going? Don’t forget to learn the words using the chart in the front of your book. you will be more likely to log those words into your memory if you learn them by a variety of methods! Keep up the good work everyone.

This week we made a waka with lots of bits pieces with fish        thatsay a problem shared is a problem halved and our class is special.

We made shields. One side says I am unique because…. and the  other side says Our class is special. They look very cool.

We also did blue and orange cards. The blue ones were Rights and the orange ones were Responsibilities. A right is to have a tidy, well organised classroom and a responsibility is to keep my classroom tidy.  

Hannah and Mr Whalley are The Bomb – they are our only bloggers so far. Come on you guys, have a go and see how you get on. Remember ….. TRY NEW IDEAS!

Well here we are all back and ready to make learning pathways for ourselves in 2011!

Hope you all had a great holiday and are feeling fresh and ready to go. Our group goal will be to use our blog site as a way of communicating and reflecting on our learning. I am looking forward to learning lots of new techniques to get our news out to everyone.

We have been very busy this term doing:

Maths: Doubling and halving, multiplication, problem solving, skip counting in 2, 3, 5, 10.

Reading: Activities in our individual groups, researching, reading logs, Character studies

Writing: Character writing, publishing our stories; these will be posted soon.

Spelling: Chunks of words and blends.

Topic: How plants grow, Planted seedlings and experimenting with them to see what makes them grow best. Like putting them in bags, jars, feeding them different things(chook poos, compost, ash, water, worm wee ), putting them in the sun and in the dark, and we have one that we don’t give anything at all. We have a weekly chart that we record all of our findings.

We have  been making predictions on what we think will be the best.
